5^e régiment étranger d'infanterie.

Préambule.

Le 5^e régiment étranger d'infanterie a été créé le 1^er septembre 1930 au Tonkin. Il est dissous le 30 juin 2000, après avoir combattu et servi en Indochine, en Algérie et en Polynésie. C'est le seul régiment de la Légion étrangère a n'avoir jamais servi en métropole. C'est l'histoire de ce glorieux régiment de Légion que je vais vous présenter.

Je remercie l'A/C Tibor SZECSKO, auteur du "Grand livre des insignes de la Légion étrangère" de l'autorisation qu'il me donne de reproduire les textes de son livre.

Je remercie vivement le colonel BON, colonel adjoint au général commandant la Légion étrangère, le capitaine(R) GUYADER, conservateur du musée de l'uniforme de la légion étrangère et monsieur VILLARD pour l'aide précieuse apportée à la réalisation de cette étude.

Mes articles sont des compléments techniques du livre de Tibor SZECSKO. Il est destinés aux collectionneurs, surtout aux plus jeunes, pour les aider à faire la part des choses entre retirages et bidouillages divers qui fleurissent dans ce thème. Les insignes présentés sont garantis authentiques et peuvent servir de référence. Cette présentation n'est pas exhaustive car de nombreuses variantes sont absentes. Si vous en possédez, faites le moi savoir. Il peut exister des erreurs ou des omissions, elles sont involontaires. Aussi, faites moi part de vos remarques et j'apporterai les modifications ou compléments qui s'imposent.

Very particular unit forming body of the foreign Legion and only unit of legion present in the Indian Ocean, twenty six years after its creation the D.L.E.M. deserves a study on the realization of its badges.
